This is amazing and started me thinking on a coffee tangent about one year and so this guy walked across China it looks like and finds love and himself and it had me C&C Music Factory-ing about my life and one year and where I have been and come and he asks the question toward the end of his footage, flashing back to the clean-cut face that started the whole thing, asking, was this really me? Because in one year, we do grow so much. Our friend circles shift, our relationships evolve or dissolve or reappear or pop out of nowhere or we remember something meaning so much to us, just one year ago, perhaps even crying about its loss or its change or shift, and then a year later we’re like, “Romeo? I think I used to have a scene with him.” It’s funny, thinking of what was so important, and now, something so different has taken all of your attention.
It’s amazing the difference a year makes. Or even a day. Or all those moments within that day where you learn something or you get hurt or you feel love. We are all works in progress. I recently turned 28, pushing thirty now a few friends told me, but this one, this birthday, I didn’t even flinch. Because just recently, as me and a few friends found our second adolescence, I realized lately, I feel so much younger because I’m getting older.
Because as we get older, we begin to sluff off all of that which holds us back in our youth, we become geeks and we don’t care. We just start doing what makes us happy and stop asking who’s looking or if our mom and dad will approve.
And I fucken love it.
I could make a vid like this, too … I’d just have to stop plucking my chin hairs.
