It fits.

When you can pun constantly about the car you bought and that’s something that you like to do, to pun, well, you’ve chosen the right one. Even went the long way back from lunch, right by the Whole Foods traffic, the same traffic that’s there every day but today, I was in my new car, so why not get stuck in it? The radio has a beat. This car’s got room to dance. I’m dancing on my lunch break. I’m honking if I love Jesus. I’m in love with my new car.

Think I could fit another one of them in that spot.

Think I could fit another one of them in that spot. Ha Fit.

I didn’t believe them. My girlfriend and I debated, heatedly, sometimes at small shaky tables, loud enough for tables around us to hear, a date night, turned to irate night, turned into, “How could you be a democrat and not support Obama? He is our candidate.”

She didn’t support because she doesn’t just follow blindly. Hindsight doesn’t need contacts.

This was back when he had eight homo promises on his Web site, promises to gays to repeal (not change) “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” promises to acknowledge all citizens as equal. We even got to have our gay families easter egg hunting on the White House lawn. Pastel freedom.

But then, he started falling through on what he said. A screengrab from months ago shows eight promises. Here is what they used to look like:

It covers everything, we thought. During the campaign, we glowed, thinking, fiinally, we will be equal. Of course it took a black man, a minority himself to do it.

Now, this is what it looks like. Pretty sad. Then Obama supported the DOMA to level our marriages with that of incest, saying we should never use the ban on interracial marriages as any precedent for how to treat gays. Right. Because it doesn’t parallel that injustice at all, does it?

Wow. A black man. A minority himself. Obama. I am disappointed. Politicians are politicians are politicians. No matter how much hope they spouted, no matter the broken promises littering their path … And, you know what, tonight, at date night, we will be sweet and kiss faces, sharing courses, picking out wine for each other, talking about our day. Love. Warmth. Support.

And not one word of politics. Or Obama. That’d just ruin our appetites.

Good morning, monday. An office empty before anyone arrives smells already of coffee beans. (?) I love watering plants in the morning. They awaken, yawning open smiles of yellow, like one of those thank you notes mom is always trying to get you to write after the holidays. I would sign mine with a heart.

Mix a secret into the music and let it conjure some back alley-ed memory. My dreams kept me from sleeping past six. No alarm set, I was in the shower before I realized I was even awake. Smile like flowers.

SquishT.

Ladies and gents, memaws and pepaws:

Four years ago, we (being Mandy Jeronimus, Hilary O’Brien and Kate Getty) launched the idea of an Indigo Girls cover band, called The Shame on Yous. The first short film we made can be seen here. This month, week-by-week, we will launch the sequel … webisode by webisode. (We’re sooooo 2.0!!1!)

Here’s the first of four. Enjoy.
