So I was telling a story to my mother about how I think that anything you want in this world you can get, if you just believe that you can get it and you go for it adamantly, telling everyone you know that you want it. When I wanted to break into advertising, I told everyone. I even sent two plants with business cards to the two advertising agencies in Austin, where I thought I wanted to work: Butler Bros and EnviroMedia Social Marketing. I worked at both in Austin.
Then I moved to San Francisco, and got a job (from 1700 miles away) at DraftFCB West.
When I told my mother how I thought we create our own realities with our thought energy, she rolled her eyes:
“Yeh. It’s that book called ‘The Secret.’ I saw it on Oprah.”
